Filipinos in Nairobi advised to avoid Westlands after terror attack
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it continues to monitor the situation in Nairobi, Kenya as it advised Filipinos in the area to avoid the Westlands neighborhood following a suspected terror attack inside an upscale hotel.
Gunmen stormed the DusitD2 compound, a posh hotel and office complex located in the affluent neighborhood of Westlands in Nairobi, last Tuesday.
There were five fatalities in the attack that took place just three kilometers from the Embassy, according to Norman Garibay, Ambassador to Kenya. The Embassy was on a lockdown due to the incident.
In its advisory, the Embassy urged the more than 400 Filipinos in Nairobi to remain indoors and to avoid the area.#
