Chinese naval contingent on 4-day goodwill visit to PH
There was a four-day goodwill visit recently by a task force from the People’s Liberation Army Navy of China, consisting of two frigates and a replenishment ship.
The contingent, composed of the frigates “Wu Hu” and “Han Dan” and replenishment ship “Dong Ping Hu”, docked at Pier 15, South Harbor in Manila last week, Philippine Navy spokesperson Capt. Jonathan Zata said in a statement.
A welcome ceremony and port briefing were held upon arrival of the China People’s Liberation Army Navy vessels, after a customary meeting procedure conducted by a designated Philippine Navy ship.
Zata said this is the second time a Chinese Navy ship visited the country during the term of President Rodrigo Duterte.
The first visit took place at the Sasa Wharf, Davao City last April 30 to May 2, 2017, with the Changchun, a Type 052C (guided-missile destroyer), and Jingzhou, a Type 054A (guided-missile frigate), as well as Chaohu, a Type 903 replenishment ship.#
