Qatar trip of ex-PNP exec in rubber boat scam granted by court
Former Philippine National Police (PNP) Director Luizo Ticman, who was allegedly involved in the rubber boat scam , was allowed by the Sandiganbayan to travel to Qatar despite the opposition of the prosecution.
Ticman’s petition to travel abroad from January 19 to 27, 2019, was granted by the anti-graft court’s 7th Division in a resolution dated January 7, 2019.
The court said Ticman’s itinerary includes only Qatar and he shall leave not earlier than January 17. He must also be back in the Philippines not later than January 27.
Ticman, together with former PNP chief Director General Jesus Verzosa, were allegedly involved in the anomalous purchase of 75 rubber boats in 2009 valued at P131.5 million.
Besides Versoza and Ticman, also charged with violation of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, were former PNP Deputy Director General and now Tuguegarao City Mayor Jefferson Soriano, former Police Directors Ronald Roderos and Romeo Hilomen, former Chief Supts. Herold Ubalde and Villamor Bumanglag, and former Deputy Director General Benjamin Belarmino Jr.
Ticman mentioned in his travel petition he will be staying at Doubletree by Hilton Doha at CL Al Meena St., Doha, Qatar.#
