140 deaths recorded for Tropical Depression Usman
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said the death toll following the onslaught of Tropical Depression Usman has reached 140, who are from Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions.
The NDRRMC report on Thursday also showed 28 individuals were missing while 105 were injured.
Of these figures, only eight of the fatalities and 42 injured have been confirmed while the rest were subject for verification, according to the update of NDRRMC Executive Director Ricardo Jalad.
The estimated damage to infrastructure and agriculture for Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Mimaropa, Bicol and Eastern Visayas stood at P5.41 billion.
Of the total, agricultural damage amounted to P1.948 billion while that for infrastructure reached P3.463 billion.
Tropical Depression Usman also caused damage to 17,482 houses in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions. Of the total, 1,916 houses were completely damaged and 15,566 partially damaged.#
