CAFGU members get P7,000 monthly aid

An executive order signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Dec. 4 grants a P7,000 monthly financial support to each member of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary units.

Under Executive Order No. 69, the qualified CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) member will receive the financial assistance covering the months of November and December 2018.

“There is a need to provide financial support to members of the CAA units, in recognition of the invaluable assistance they provide to the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) in dealing with security threats, their indispensable service in maintaining local peace and order and meeting local insurgencies, and the faithful performance of their duties, which they carry out at great risk to themselves and their families,” the executive order stated.

In 1987, former President Corazon Aquino signed Executive Order No. 264 creating CAFGU which, through the mobilization of CAA units, shall complement and support the regular forces of the AFP in dealing with internal and external security threats.

Duterte said only duly-appointed CAA members appearing in the AFP roster shall be entitled to financial support.#
