Typhoon Ompong damages reach P21.2 billion

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Wednesday that damages caused by Typhoon Ompong on infrastructure and agriculture in six regions has reached P21.26 billion.

In an update, NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad said of the total, damages on infrastructure amounted to P6.92 billion and P14.33 billion for agriculture in the Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol and the Cordillera regions.

In Cordillera alone, some 171,932 farmers were affected by the typhoon.

The typhoon also destroyed 10,862 houses and damaged 130,024 more in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Cordillera.#
