Coast Guard Surface Support Force celebrates 11 years of dedicated service
The Coast Guard Surface Support Force (CGSSF) celebrated its 11th founding anniversary on Friday by conferring awards to personnel and units for their exemplary contribution to the service.
The awarding ceremony was led by Commodore Joseph Badajos together with Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) deputy commandant for operations Rear Admiral Rolando Legaspi as the guest of honor.
The multi-role response vessel of the year was awarded to Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas, BRP Malabrigo (MRRV-4402), while the Monitoring Control and Surveillance of the year was awarded to MCS-3007. The awards were received by Captain Charlie Rances and Commander Antonio Sontillanosa, the commanding officers of the respective vessels.
Small craft of the year was awarded to Diesel Fast 314 and was received by its boat captain Chief Petty Officer Ferdinand Manaay. Petty Officer Third Class Vidasto Palero was awarded as unit ‘s non-officer of the year.
Ten PCG non-officers were also recognized for successfully hurdling their shipboard duties as boat captain to PCG small crafts. The awardees were: Master Chief Petty Officer Dante Vargas, Chief Petty Officer Jerson De Taza, Chief Petty Officer Benildo Incognito, Chief Petty Officer Ritchbel Hiñola, Chief Petty Officer Nicanor Tabios, Chief Petty Officer Dominico Alum, Chief Petty Officer Sany Lorenzo, Petty Officer First Class Lyndon Remos, Petty Officer First Class Noel Fabros and Petty Officer First Class Ivan B Montinola.
Commodore Allen Toribio, Captain Normando Reyes, Captain Allan Victor Dela Vega and Commander Dexter Torres received the Command at Sea badge for successfully completing their shipboard duties as Commanding Officer’s billet.
Certificates of appreciation were also given to a number of civilians and private partners for their continued support to the Command over the year.
CGSSF maintains the readiness of PCG’s water assets deployed in the country’s maritime domain.#
