Magnitude 5.5 Quake jolts Surigao del Norte
A magnitude 5.5 earthquake jolted Surigao del Norte on Thursday night but no casualty has been reported yet, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The quake struck at around 7:57 p.m., with a 21-kilometer depth of focus.
No major damage was expected from the quake but locals should look out
for aftershocks, PHILVOCS said.
The epicenter was located at 5 kilometers southwest of Libjo town, and a
Intensity 5 was reported in Surigao City and Guian and Salcedo in Eastern Samar
Intensity 4 was felt in Carascal, Surigao Del Sur; Lawaan and Giporlos, Eastern Samar; Butuan City; San Francisco, San Juan and Hinunangan, Southern Leyte; Tolosa, Leyte
Intensity 3 was recorded in Dulag Leyte; Gingoog, Misamis Oriental; Palo, Leyte
Intensity 2 was recorded in Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur; Cagayan De Oro City; and Camiguin Island.
Intensity I was reported in Cebu City, Sorsogon City, and Bislig City. #
