PNP joins 32nd EDSA anniversary rites
The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy a 300-strong police contingent that will take part in the commemoration of the 32nd anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on February 25 at the People Power Monument along EDSA, Quezon City.
PNP Chief Director General Ronald de la Rosa said the National Capital Region Police Office would also provide security coverage, traffic management, emergency preparedness and response, and other public safety services in all places of engagement.
The police contingent will be part of the “Salubungan,” a reenactment of the union of forces from Camp Aguinaldo and Camp Crame which fought for the ouster of former President Ferdinand Marcos.
This year’s theme is “EDSA 2018: Effecting Change Towards Strengthened Democracy”.
According to Police Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, PNP spokesman, some top officials of the land are expected to attend the celebration. These include Cabinet Secretaries, Commissioner-EEPC, local chief executives, foreign dignitaries, and other chiefs of offices of various government and non-government agencies.
Various government agencies will organize their activities to commemorate the peaceful revolt.
These include a Holy Mass at the Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace, Our Lady of EDSA in Ortigas, Pasig City; Medical, Dental, and Optical Service; Diskwento Caravan of Department of Trade and Industry; Jobs Fair; and Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.#
