PNP remembers heroism of SAF 44
The Philippine National Police (PNP) remembered today the heroism of the 44 Special Action Force (SAF) police commandos who were killed in a counter-terrorism operation in Mamasapano, Maguindanao three years ago.
Police Director Noli Taliño, newly-installed SAF director, hosted the annual event for the elite maneuver force of the Philippine National Force in its headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa.
Present were Deputy Director General Deputy Director General Archie Francisco Gamboa, the Chief of the Directorial Staff represented PNP Chief, Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
National Capital Region Police Office Regional Director PDir Oscar Albayalde led the wreath-laying ceremony in commemorating the heroism and gallantry of the SAF 44.
President Duterte signed Proclamation no. 164 in 2017 or the “National Remembrance for the Heroic Sacrifice of the SAF 44” to commemorate the heroism of the 44 SAFcommandos who offered the “supreme sacrifice” in an encounter with Muslim terrorists in Mamasapano, Maguindanao on January 25, 2015.
The Muslim terrorists massacred the outnumbered commandos who raided the terrorist lair in Mamasapano after they accomplished the mission to neutralize Malaysian bomb-maker Zulkipli Bin Hir alias Marwan, a cashiered international terrorist.
The President said the tragic incident should serve as ‘a constant reminder of the continuing sacrifices being made by the PNP personnel.#
